On 6 September 2022, Gachon University Gil Hospital and AMCG, a company specialising in cardiac diagnostic devices, signed a memorandum of understanding on clinical research cooperation.
The agreement makes Gachon University Gil Hospital the first institution in Korea to begin clinical research on a magnetocardiography (MCG) system.
AMCG’s MCG system diagnoses cardiac disease using the faint magnetic fields produced within the body, without administering drugs or radiation. It is designed in particular for the early diagnosis of arrhythmia and myocardial ischemia.
The two institutions will contribute both facilities and personnel to the clinical research validating the system’s effectiveness.
Gil Hospital director Kim Woo-kyung said expectations were high for AMCG’s magnetocardiography system, developed independently in Korea, and that the hospital would work closely with AMCG as the country’s first MCG clinical research site.
AMCG was founded in March 2021 on technology transferred from the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science.
